Freshmen In-State Scholarships

 

New Mexico Legislative Lottery Scholarship

Qualifications: New Mexico resident; immediately enroll in postsecondary after receipt of high school diploma from an accredited New Mexico high school or GED.

Eligibility Criteria for Legacy Students (those who have received lottery for 3 or more semesters before Fall 2014): Complete a minimum 12 credit hours with a minimum 2.5 GPA each semester.
Amount: Tuition (or some portion thereof as determined by the Higher Education Department annually) for a regular semester of full time enrollment for up to eight (8) consecutive semesters of undergraduate eligibility.
 

Eligibility Criteria for New Students (those who have less than 3 semesters of lottery before Fall 2014): Enroll for and complete a minimum 15 credit hours with a minimum 2.5 GPA each semester.

Amount: tuition (or some portion thereof as determined by the Higher Education Department annually) for regular semester of full-time enrollment upon completion of 15 credit hours with a 2.5+ GPA for up to seven (7) consecutive semesters of undergraduate eligibility.

Deadlines & Application: Immediately enroll in postsecondary after receipt of a high school diploma from an accredited New Mexico high school or GED. No application required. Transfer students must submit a NM Scholarship Transfer Transcript form from prior school awarding lottery.

Presidential Gold Scholarship

Qualifications: New Mexico resident; immediately enroll in postsecondary after high school graduation from an accredited New Mexico high school.

Amount: $2,500 ($2,000 fall/ $500 spring) converts to Legislative Lottery Scholarship (if eligible) Spring and subsequent eligible semesters; $2,000 ($1,000 per semester) room and board allowance (only applies if living on campus in residence halls with a meal plan); and book award of $500 ($250 per semester).
Eligibility Criteria: High school GPA of 3.75 or higher AND 25 ACT.
Renewal Criteria for room/board allowance and book award: Up to seven (7) semesters of consecutive undergraduate eligibility with the completion of 15 credit hours and a 3.0 GPA.
Deadlines & Application: Admission process must be complete by March 1st; thereafter, complete the NMHU scholarship application process, awards may be made pending the availability of funds.
Note: Student must stay in campus housing to qualify for the room and board benefit of this scholarship. Students who receive waivers cannot have both.

Presidential Silver Scholarship

Qualifications: New Mexico resident; immediately enroll in postsecondary after high school graduation from an accredited New Mexico high school.
Amount: $2,500 ($2,000 fall/ $500 spring) converts to Legislative Lottery scholarship (if eligible) Spring and subsequent eligible semesters; $1,000 ($500 per semester) room allowance (only applies if living on campus in residence halls); and book award of $400 ($200 per semester).
Eligibility Criteria: HS GPA of 3.50 or higher AND 22 ACT.
Renewal Criteria for room allowance and book award: Up to seven (7) semesters of full time consecutive undergraduate eligibility with 15 credit hours per semester and a 3.0 GPA.
Deadlines & Application: Admission process must be complete by March 1st; thereafter, complete the NMHU scholarship application process. Awards may be made pending the availability of funds.
Note: Students must stay in campus housing to qualify for the room benefit of this scholarship. Students who receive waivers cannot have both.

Dean's Scholarship

Qualifications: New Mexico resident; immediately enroll in postsecondary after high school graduation from an accredited New Mexico high school.
Amount: $2,000 ($1,500 fall/ $500 spring) converts to Legislative Lottery scholarship (if eligible) Spring and subsequent eligible semesters; $300 ($150 per semester) book award.
Eligibility Criteria: High school GPA of 3.0 or higher.
Renewal Criteria for book award: Up to seven (7) semesters of full time undergraduate eligibility with 15 credit hours per semester and a 2.5+ GPA.
Deadlines & Application: Admission process must be complete by March 1st; thereafter, complete the NMHU scholarship application process. Awards may be made pending the availability of funds.

Freshman Success Scholarship

Qualifications: New Mexico resident; immediately enroll in postsecondary after high school graduation from an accredited New Mexico high school.
Eligibility Criteria: HS GPA of 2.5 to 2.99.
Amount: $1,500 ($1,000 fall/ $500 spring) converts to Legislative Lottery Scholarship (if eligible) Spring and subsequent eligible semesters.
Deadlines & Application: Admission process must be complete by March 1st; thereafter, complete the NMHU scholarship application process. Awards may be made pending the availability of funds.
 

College Incentive Grant

Qualifications: New Mexico resident; immediately enroll in postsecondary after high school graduation from an accredited New Mexico high school.
Eligibility Criteria: HS GPA 2.0 to 2.49
Amount: $1,000 ($500 fall/ $500 spring) converts to Legislative Lottery Scholarship (if eligible) Spring and subsequent eligible semesters.
Deadlines & Application: Admission process must be complete by March 1st; thereafter, complete the NMHU Scholarship application process. Awards may be made pending the availability of funds.
