Although the School is primarily located at the NMHU campus in Las Vegas, New Mexico, we also have four (4) off-campus statewide programs located throughout the state in:

• Rio Rancho/Albuquerque, New Mexico
• Farmington, New Mexico
• Roswell, New Mexico
• Española, New Mexico

Each social work program is situated in close proximity to one or more of the 19 Native American pueblos or among three tribes that are rich in cultural traditions.

Our program locations allow students the opportunity to experience and practice social work among Hispanic and Native American cultures, in either a rural or urban settings. These two predominate cultures have maintained their language and cultural traditions for over 500 years.

The School offers both BSW and MSW degree programs. These programs are offered at three of the five program locations. Our Roswell Center only offers the MSW degree program; while our Espanola campus, only offers the BSW degree program.

Mission Statement

The mission of the School of Social Work is to educate students to practice social work sensitively and competently with the diverse multi-cultural populations of New Mexico and the Southwest. The school has a primary commitment to Hispanic and Native American peoples. The curriculum grounds students in social work skills, values, ethical principles, and awareness of and respect for, cultural, language and gender differences. The school prepares undergraduate and graduate student for generalist and advanced generalist practice through the integration of classroom knowledge and field practicum instruction.
