Policy Notice Update for January 2011

Spring 2012 ONLY: Undergraduate students who have not yet been admitted to the School of Education will be allowed to enroll in Field-based II (GNED 351) with the following non-negotiable requirements:

  1. Students MUST complete the admission process (which includes receiving an acceptance letter from the School of Education) through Chalk & Wire by the end of the course; students who do not complete this process will receive an incomplete in the course.
  2. Students MUST pass the NMTA content exam by the end of the course; students who do not complete this process will receive an incomplete in the course.

Undergraduate Admission to the School of Education
 

As of 10/25/10, undergraduate admission applications to the School of Education will only be accepted through Chalk & Wire.

The following requirements MUST be met prior to admission to the School of Education.

  1. Students must have passed the NMTA Basic Skills Test with a score of 240 or better.
  2. Students must have completed at least 24 credit hours (inclusive of transfer hours) with an overall GPA of 2.5 or better.
  3. Students must have received a final grade of C or better in GNED 201 & SPED 214  OR ECME 300.
  4. Students must have submitted the required writing sample in GNED 201 OR ECME 300.
  5. Students must have received a final grade of C or better in ENG 112 and MATH 140.
  6. Students must have an A.A. degree or have declared a minor.
  7. Students must have submitted the Disclosure Form.
  8. Students must have submitted the Admissions to the School of Education Form.
