Human beings have always sought ethical regulation of behavior. Down through history it has been seen as essential to the survival of groups. Even prehistoric tribal societies developed expectations of behavior with allowed cultures to develop. Over time morals became formalized and made into standards of conduct. They developed into religious cannons, laws, taboos and ethics. The workshop is designed to cover the historical development of ethics, current standards, practical ethical decision making skills and these all apply to the social work and counseling professions.
