Desire2Learn Replaces Blackboard at HU
Las Vegas, N.M – New Mexico Highlands University went live with a new online course learning management tool May 14.
The university switched from Blackboard to Desire2Learn, which will host all internet courses and provide course materials for interactive television, or ITV, classes.
“Desire2Learn will improve the learning environment for students taking distance education courses,” said Evonne Roybal-Tafoya, Educational Outreach Services director. “It will also enhance the traditional classes both on our main campus and at our centers around the state.”
Roybal said the Highlands University faculty recommended the Desire2Learn change.
“There will be more features available for faculty and student use with Desire2Learn,” Roybal said. “For example, they will be able to access the online course system through mobile devices like an iPad.”
Students and faculty can access Desire2Learn from the front page of the Highlands University website www.nmhu.eduby clicking on the E-COURSES tab or by using www.nmhu.edu/E_courses/index.aspx
