Career Services Offers Workshops in April
Las Vegas, N.M. – The New Mexico Highlands University Career Services Center is offering a series of 50-minute workshops in April to help students prepare for success at the center’s April 25 Spring Career Fair.
The workshops include topics such as creating an effective resume, researching employers, dressing professionally, asking the right questions, following up with employers after the event, and more.
“Career Services peer advisers will present the workshops to help students create a personalized plan to feel confident and prepared to attend the career fair, and make a positive impact on employers,” said Ron Garcia, director of Career Services.
Students who attend the workshops are eligible to win prizes like Highlands University apparel, school supplies, $25 gift certificates for the university’s bookstore donated by the Highlands Foundation, a $200 textbook voucher for the university’s bookstore donated by Follett Higher Education Group, and a mountain bike donated by A’viands Food Services & Management.
All of the workshops will be held in the Felix Martinez Building Conference Room, Room 210, 800 University Ave. The dates and titles for the workshops include:

Students who are unable to attend any of the workshops can find a wealth of helpful tips for career fairs, resumes, interviewing and more on the Career Services website at www.nmhu.edu/careerservicesThe site also has a variety of CareerSpots videos.
The Career Services staff is available to assist students in creating and reviewing resumes on a walk-in basis or by appointment.
