HU Singers Present Witches Musical, May 3, 4


Las Vegas, N.M. – The New Mexico Highlands University HU Singers present a musical production Witches May 3 and 4 at 7 p.m. in the university’s historic Ilfeld Auditorium, 900 University Ave.

The music includes lively selections from two popular Broadway musicals: Stephen Schwartz’ Wicked andStephen Sondheim’s Into the Woods.

Andre García-Nuthmann, director of Highlands University’s choral and vocal program, will direct the concert. He is also the piano accompanist.

Music students who will sing leading roles include:

  • Alto Autumn Woods as Elphaba in Wicked and Little Red Riding Hood in Into the Woods.
  • Soprano Nicole Robinson as Glinda in Wicked.
  • Alto Lisa Cisneros as the Witch in Into the Woods.
  • Soprano Karliz de Marco as Cinderella in Into the Woods.
  • Tenor Michael Rascon as the Prince and Jack in Into the Woods.
  • Baritone TJ Harris as Fiyero in Wicked, and the Wolf and the Prince in Into the Woods.
  • Other vocal soloists include sopranos Lynnelle Logan, McKenna Sandoval, and Amanda Melendrez, and Isaac Hidalgo at bass.

Don Evans, Highlands University theater and speech instructor, designed the sets, with help from McKenna Sandoval, Nicholas Evans, and Carlos Martinez. Chris Jordan, Nicole Robinson, and Karliz de Marco designed the costumes.

All tickets for Witches are $5. Highlands University students with valid IDs are free.
